The UIMP and the CSIC offer a new ‘Máster en Tecnologías Cuánticas’

Madrid20 October 2022- La Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) will include a partir del curso 2022-2023 and a new title in its academic offer. Se trata del ‘Máster en Tecnologías Cuánticas’, realized in academic alliance with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), whose registration period will open next month of November.

The master is directed and coordinated by María José Calderón (ICMM-CSIC), Diego Frustaglia (Universidad de Sevilla) and David Zueco (INMA, CSIC-UNIZAR). It has the financial support of the Platform CSIC sobre Tecnologías Cuánticas, la Red Española de Tecnologías Cuánticas y el project Quantum Spain.

The postgraduate degree, which is enmarca en la category of its own title, is composed of a lecture load of 60 credits ECTS courses from January to September of 2023 and is oriented to graduates of technical and scientific careers and professionals of technological companies, of communication and of service.

Competences más relevantes para todas las áreas de las technologías quánticas

El máster propone una educación completa en el campo de las tecnologia quánticas, a nivel de desarrollo y usuario avanzado. This program is designed with a model top-down, en el que se extractan las compétencias más relevantes para todas las areas de las tecnologia quánticas, y se buscan profesionales de la investigación y docencia con la adecuación requisite para impartir esa formationa lo largo de las universidades y centros de investigação españoles. The result of this selection is a team of 50 assistant researchers with a solid international track record in the field of quantum technologies.

La orientación del máster es doble: investigatora y profesional (no regulada). Por un lado, es una respuesta a las necessidades formatives de los multiples y geographically dispersos equipos de investigação, públicos y privados, en el amíto nacional. Its integrated character is reflected in the fact that it is an interuniversity project that combines 10 CSIC centers and 9 universities. Por otro lado, a través de un diseño top-down y una selección adequada de compétencias, se proporcia una formación exhaustiva que perlativo al estudiantado desarrollar proyectos independientes de innovation y desarrollo en el seno de las companies de tecnologia quánticas y empresas que se se se introduce en el campo desde otros amítos. Dispositivos de naturaleza quántica

The quantum technologies are those that are built with devices of quantum nature, taking advantage of phenomena such as superposition and interlacing to obtain advantages in tasks of sensing, metrology, communication, encryption, simulation and computation, among others.

The field of quantum technologies is a priority research area in Europe, EE.UU, China, Canada, Australia and Japan, among other developed regions. En Europa, esta área se articuló alrededor del Flagship de Tecnologías Cuánticas, iniciado por la Comisión Europea en 2019, y que ahora se reemplaza por el Cluster 4 de Horizon Europe in collaboration with similar initiatives in Digital Europe, ESA, EIC and other departments of research and innovation. In Spain, quantum technologies are also included in the Spanish Strategy of Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2027, as well as in different strategic actions with recovery funds and FEDER funds of the Autonomous Communities.

Precisely, this year 2022, physicists Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger have won the Nobel Prize in Physics for their pioneering work in quantum information.
