Unanimity in the plenum of the City Council of Ourense to opt for the State Agency of Artificial Intelligence

El PP local also votes in favor because it is “good for the city”, despite Baltar’s support for the candidacy of A Coruña

Ourense, 4 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The pleno del Ayuntamiento de Ourense has unanimously approved this Friday, during its ordinary session of the month of November, that the city continues in the race to be the seat of the State Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence (Aesia), despite the apuesta de la Xunta por A Coruña.

In concrete terms, the candidacy proposal elaborated by the municipal technicians, which has received the favorable vote of all groups, including the PP, will be presented this Monday, the last day of the deadline.

In fact, the political formations have manifested their agreement to affirm that the city of As Burgas meets the requirements to host this agency, lamenting that they do not count on the support of the Galician government for this.

Los populares han given the surprise to vote ‘yes’ to the proposal and move away from what was previously manifested by the provincial president of the party, Manuel Baltar, who last week se posicionó in favor of A Coruña as the Galician candidate to host the Aesia tras una reunión con el rector de la Universidade de Vigo (UVigo), Manuel Reigosa.

The position of Baltar has been met with the rebuke of the municipal spokesman of the PSOE, Rafael Rodríguez Villarino, who also directs the Socialist Group in the Diputación, where the proposal to debate this topic did not receive the green light from the PP.

On the part of the BNG, with the spokesperson, Luís Seara, he appealed to “no generation of confrontation” with A Coruña.

On the same line, Ciudadanos has manifested itself.

In fact, this entity asserts that its candidacy “is the most competitive in the region”.

The platform supports that Ourense surpasses Barcelona in requirements related to social and territorial cohesion, as well as the struggle against depopulation and high levels of unemployment, which is why “it is excellently positioned despite not counting on the support of the Xunta” “.

AGENCIA ESPACIAL ESTATAL

The plenary session of this Friday also served to approve, again by unanimity, the initiative of the PSOE to make Ourense opt to be the seat of the State Space Agency.

Villarino has explained that the building would be the Center for Investigation, Innovation and Transfer of UVigo, although it is not in the city hall of Ourense, but in the neighborhood of San Cibrao das Viñas.
